The ER doctor had said my "bones were cornflakes" so I thought I was being released to non-surgical healing, on my own. Friends and family encouraged me to see a shoulder specialist for a second opinion. A week ago, I saw him and four days later he squeezed me in for surgery, nearly two weeks after my fall. He installed a plate which he will not remove and the rotator cuff is holding the shoulder together sort of like an internal cast. That is held with sinew which will dissolve. My personal battles revolve around the balance of too little vs. too much pain meds. Last night I had the pain block drip removed and I struggled.Today, three days after the surgery, I am just now beginning to get it right, to stay ahead of the pain, and to eat, finally.
