If there’s ever a place where the health-minded might feel sorry for themselves, it’s at the movies. When I walk into my local theater, I can’t find a single thing that I am allowed to eat! What’s a conscientious bone-builder to do?
If the theater owners won’t prepare food I can eat, then I have no recourse than to prepare my own. And no, I have no qualms about breaking their “No outside food allowed” rule. Every last food item they sell leaves acid ash–big time! Popcorn, candy, and soda are all major acid ash contributors–which amount to poison for my system–not to mention the unwanted calories and processed sugars!
What do I pack? First, I pack a bottle or two of water. Then I pack either a large fruit cup or a large vegetable cup, whichever suits me that day:
1) Fruit cup: tangerine sections, apple chunks, peach slices, banana chunks (with the peel still wrapped around the chunks), walnuts
2) Vegetable cup: cherry tomatoes, celery chunks, cucumber slices, raw broccoli florets, baby carrots, sunflower seeds. If you choose the salted sunflower seeds, it’s better than popcorn!
For movies at home, my husband and I sometimes munch on sesame sticks (from DeLand Natural Bakery) or almonds and drink herbal tea, as well as enjoying fruits or vegetables.
A movie menu with a happy ending! Bon’ apetit!
