What it’s for: “Biochem’s Ultimate Lo Carb™ Whey contains 100% Pure Ultra-Filtered/Micro-Filtered (UF/MF) whey protein isolate, the finest quality and most easily assimilated whey protein isolate available, with 99% undenatured whey peptides.” For those of us who are looking to add high-quality, easily digestible protein to our diets, Biochem’s 100% Whey Protein is a welcome solution!

What’s good about it: Biochem’s brand of whey protein is all natural and absolutely delicious! My favorite flavor is the vanilla flavor of 100% Whey Protein, but I also enjoy the berry flavor of 100% Berries & Whey -and- the vanilla flavor of 100% Raw Foods & Whey. They dissolve instantly without sticky clumping. Biochem’s whey protein products contain no processed sugars or artificial sweeteners, and are sweetened with only Xylitol, Stevia, and/or evaporated cane juice. They also contain no yeast, wheat, gluten, starch, preservatives, artificial color, or artificial flavor.

What’s bad about it: It’s costs a few dollars more than the other whey protein powders on the shelf, but to me it’s well worth the cost!

It’s better than: Any other whey protein I’ve tried–and I’ve tried a bunch!

It’s not a good as: Cheesecake, cherry pie ala mode, or chocolate chip cookies, but hey! Those foods are bone-enemies that I wouldn’t touch with a ten-foot pole, knowing what I know now about nutrition and bone health.

Why I use this product: It’s so yummy in my fruity protein shakes that it tastes like dessert! Yet, with all natural ingredients and no artificial sweeteners, it’s good for me, too! Most mornings I have a shake with BioChem Sports’ Whey Protein for breakfast. But at night, when my husband eats his frozen yogurt with chocolate chips–which contains the processed sugar and dairy products that I can’t have–I often whip up a fruity protein shake in the blender for dessert. Bone-healthy and scrumptious!

Best place to get it: I buy it at my local health food store, DeLand Bakery and Natural Market, but it’s also available on-line.

Is your whey non-GM ?(genetically modified or organic) and if so it needs to be labeled. Everyone is being aware of GM foods and we don’t want them. Thank you.

    • Kathy says:

Hi, Diane. I don’t see anything on the label that indicates that it is non-GM. However, I don’t actually use BioChem’s whey protein anymore. Instead, I now use Solaray’s “Soytein” (vanilla), which is clearly labeled “Non-GMO.”

  4. Kathy says:

Hi, Eleanor. According to the package label, Biochem’s Whey Protein contains no Vitamin K. I also use another protein powder: Solaray’s Soytein, which also contains no Vitamin K. Enjoy!

  5. Eleanor says:

I am taking Warfarin for AF. I must keep my vitamin K consumption down. Would like to use your whey protein powder to make fruit smoothies. Can you please tell me the amount of K in 2 scoops? Thanks for your help.

Strict vegetarian here. Does anyone know how Country Life/Biochem processes their whey? Do they use animal rennet?

  7. HS says:

I’ve been using the bio-chem’s whey protein for years (nautrual flavor). Suddenly the scoop size has changed from 70 cc to 60 cc, but the package information for both scoop sizes seems to be the same. (Protein per scoop, weight of a scoop, etc.) Anyone know what’s going on?

  8. Srdjan says:

Biochem seems to have recently reduced the number of servings per package on their “Ultimate Protein System”, from 28 (or so) to 16. They’ve done this by increasing the scoop size drastically without any clear benefits to me. (The amount of protein is still 40g per serving.) Other than the obvious “we-want-you-to-go-through-the-can-as-fast-as-possible-so-you-would-by-more”, do you know of any benefits for this increase?

    Thanks,
    -Srdjan

I also noticed the switch to “two scoops,” but I still use one scoop of BioChem when I use it to make a Fruity Protein Shake. I have another favorite protein powder now, called Soytein (Vanilla) by Solaray. Delicious!

I have been trying to figure out where Biochem Sports 100% Whey Protein is manufactured. What country?

Can you find out and let me know?

I really like the vanilla flavor of the product, but am surprised that this origin information is not readily available.

    Thanks for your help.
